Resources for funding regional broadband consortia

The California Public Utilities Commission offers grant money to qualified regional broadband consortia through its California Advanced Services fund. Original source documents are available on request for most of the documents below.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved specific grant requirements for the regional broadband consortia program established last year by Senate Bill 1040. The grants are funded through the California Advanced Services Fund (CASF). Qualifying regional consortia can apply for up to $150,000 in funding for each of three years ($450,000 total).

On 20 July 2011, the CPUC corrected "non-substantive errors" in the original decision. Attachments A and C were affected, and the corrected versions are below. The old, superceded versions can be downloaded here. The order also makes substantive changes to the decision that only affect applicants from Los Angeles County. Reference: Decision 11-07-034.
The California Emerging Technology Fund has offered grants in the past, and is looking at future grant requests that promote broadband adoption and deployment. They have said they are interested in funding up to 20% of the cost of those projects. CETF does not have formal application packages, but the application requirements are here:
